The second name on this gravestone is Henry Baskerville. When Henry was a young man he was coachman to Arthur Fletcher Robinson of Ipplepen, near Ashburton. Robinson was a close friend of Arthur Conan Doyle. In 1901 Henry drove the pair around Dartmoor seeking locations for a new book about a murderous hound. So guess where Conan Doyle got the inspiration for his new title, The Hound of the Baskervilles. My interest is the local history of a nearby village.
